I am a cultural and social geographer interested in the following areas:

  • Representation
  • Non-representational theories
  • Culture
  • Difference
  • Senses of Place
  • Affect and emotion
  • Identity and subjectivity
  • Geographies of ageing and the life-course
  • Creative and participatory methods

My ESRC funded research project involved working with more-than representational theories to understand the lived experience of older people in the move towards creating 'Age-Friendly Cities'. I am currently working on publications from this research alongside working as a research associate on a project called Methods for Change.

Methods for Change plans to develop an online platform to showcase the value of social sciences methodologies to the wider world and demonstrate to industry the benefit that social sciences research can bring to their organisations.

I am also working with colleagues from Sociology on an ESRC N8 funded creative mapping project which is exploring the lived heritage of canal street, Manchester.

I work closely with colleagues at the Manchester Urban Institute (MUI), the Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Ageing (MICRA) and the Morgan Centre for Research into Everyday Lives. I am part of the Cities, Politics and Economies (CPE) research group and the Manchester Urban Ageing research group (MUARG). I co-convened the first ever MICRA PhD and early career conference in 2019 and have convened international, interdisciplinary and collaborative workshops on infrastructure, creative methods and ageing.

I was a Lecturer in Human Geography between 2019-2020 in which I contributed toward teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Department of Geography.
